— Judge Jessica K. Peterson —
Path To The Bench
Judge Peterson's commitment to the judiciary is deeply rooted. After graduating cum laude from law school, she had an internship with the Honorable Charles Johnson in Michigan. There, she analyzed legal briefs, researched law, and provided recommended rulings, an experience that solidified her love for the law and her judicial aspirations.

Judge Peterson then spent two decades in private practice, which provided her with a comprehensive and balanced legal perspective. Judge Peterson started out at a large firm in Michigan handling medical malpractice, premises liability, asbestos litigation and regulatory compliance cases. She then was in solo practice for a while focusing on family law and misdemeanor criminal cases while also serving as the Banks Township Zoning Administrator . In 2007 Judge Peterson moved to Las Vegas and began working for the Flangas McMillan Law Firm. Her work at Flangas involved representing a diverse clientele, including plaintiffs, defendants, businesses, and individuals, in a wide array of legal areas, from municipal court to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. At Flangas not only did she represent clients on "both sides of the 'v'" but her practice areas included complex business litigation, family law, landlord-tenant disputes, personal injury, employment law, and probate law.
Further showcasing her commitment to public service and legal skill, she served as a Court Appointed Arbitrator from 2016 - 2020 rendering over 30 decisions.
*A notable achievement highlights her legal prowess: as co-counsel with Gus Flangas in a defamation case, she helped establish precedent by obtaining a preliminary injunction against speech and wrote the Supreme Court Brief that unanimously upheld the verdict.
